Fanart Friday #4- The Titular Character

What's up guys! Can you believe it's that time of the week already? Time sure moves by fast! In fact, I'm already halfway through my college semester. It feels like I just started yesterday! WTH! Haha, time sure is strange.

For this week's fanart, I'm showcasing Joe art! I'm really happy that people like his design. With all of my characters, I want to make them as simple as possible, while at the same time being memorable. It makes it easier for others (and me) to draw them, and it makes it faster, too. I mean, even a kid could draw Joe, I think! Haha.

I'll give you a bit of lore on Joe's design. Originally, he was going to be an escaped convict from an intergalactic prison, and he had a shaved head. But over time I simplified the story and concentrated more on the medieval aspect, and decided to reserve the science fiction for the sequel. So if you ever see Joe wearing a prisoner outfit, you understand the reference! I never really gave up on the shaved head aspect, but after I kept drawing him his hair repeatedly got longer. So yeah, that's why it's different.

Joe by Rosuma

This first drawing is by Rosuma on Deviantart. Rosuma was one of the first friends I made on that site, and I think we did art trades together. It's been such a long time though, I can't really remember for sure. But yeah, she drew this really cool picture of Joe! Back in the day, I used to draw him with shades a lot, so that's why he's wearing them here. Pretty nice! Rosuma isn't active anymore to my knowledge, so I'm not sure where you can find her art, but all of her older stuff is still on DA if you want to see.

ANARCHY!! Haha, that's the vibe I get when I look at this drawing. Judkauwe is also on Deviantart, but like pretty much all of my friends that I made, probably isn't active anymore. I'm telling you, that site steals your creative soul, it's like an incubus. Anyway, he made this drawing for Inktober in 2020. I don't remember what the prompt was, 'cuz I never do Inktober, but yeah.

It's cool to see Joe in a different style, I think! He's portrayed more as a bad boy here, which is kinda cool, but kinda cursed at the same time. I could never see him giving the finger to anybody! Ethan on the other hand... yeah, that I could see. Haha! Despite his rough-around-the-edges sort of personality, Joe is actually rather polite. Well, unless you piss him off, of course.

Oh yeah, one more fun fact about Joe. Of all the main characters in the party, he is the only man without a visible six pack. It's surprisingly important to the story and character interactions, because everyone fat shames him. Haha! I thought it'd be cool to have a FPS-like protagonist that wasn't super jacked for a change. Makes him stand out a little, eh?
