Hey everyone! Welcome back to my game series. I made some nice progress this week, so let's get into it!
First things first, I registered for Steam Next Fest in October. Because of that, I've also finally gotten the Steam page for the game to have the Early Access banner. All I had to do was copy and paste someone else's approved description, how about that! Anyway, I'm also going to put the game in the Turn Based RPG fest, which starts on September 30th. Which brings me to my next point...
As soon as I decided to put my game in Next Fest and the RPG fest, I started working on my game all the time. And I mean ALL the time. I was kinda doing it before, but now I was doing it more intensely and adding features faster. I really didn't want to miss the September 30th deadline to have a good-looking game. But... now, the demo is nearly complete. All it needs is more 3D, and it'll be finished. And I have a whopping 35 days left until then! I didn't expect to get through what I needed to so quickly. So since I have so much time left, I'm going to take a 2 week break from game dev stuff. I'll try, anyway... it may end up being just one week. But I really need a break from looking at a computer all day. My eyes are strained, and my body is suffering from a lack of exercise. So because of these things, I'm going to take a break from electronics. By my math, I'll still have 21 days left, even if I don't code for two weeks straight. That's a ton of time to get everything else done. So yeah. Wanted to let everyone know: I'm going on break.
Now with that news out of the way, I'll go into more detail on what I've added this week.

I was finally able to add in the game's battle tutorial! It's taken so long because I had to complete the base system first before I tried making a scripted battle. But yeah! Now the proper tutorial is in the game. As a side benefit, dialogue can also be created in battles now. I'm thinking of having some for boss fights and the like.
All the monsters for the first dungeon have also been added, along with all their moves and stats. It's really easy to add them in because I created all the designs in my sketchbook ages ago, so I just have to come up with the proper moveset and stats. I'm really happy that my data system is finally becoming streamlined and coherent to the point where I can just add stuff in as I need.
Anyway, there are 5 monsters total in the first dungeon. I'm thinking of having a similar amount for each one, though some will have more I think. Yeah. I'm pretty excited for the rest of my development process. All I have to do is 3D and adding monsters in, because all the framework is pretty much done now. It feels pretty nice.
With all that said, here's the video of me going over everything. I'll see you again in two weeks- or maybe a little sooner than that.
