Game Journal #80 - Chemistry Bursts, Menu Weather Animations

Hello! Welcome back to my game journal series. This time, I figured out how to create cool UI animations. Want to see how I made the animation below? Then read on!

First, life update. My house progress is going well. I was supposed to get an inspection last week, but it was delayed because the owners wanted to add some more utilities to the house (at no cost to me!) Hopefully it can be completed this coming week. I'm really excited!

Secondly, I'm going to the Guns N' Roses concert on Tuesday. I'm extremely hyped for it because they're my favorite band, and it'll be the first time I see them live! Unfortunately, my vision's kinda bad right now (I get eye injections monthly because of a condition I have, sometimes it makes my vision temporarily worse) which is a bummer, but I did buy some binoculars and that helped some. I think it'll be a good experience! I'll post about it after I go, of course. Speaking of, want to guess my favorite Guns N Roses band member from the original lineup? Hint: I also think that he's the most handsome.

Did you guess the guy in the middle? Too bad, it's the guy all the way on the left! Haha. Yeah, Izzy Stradlin is my favorite band member. Of course, I love all of them (and they're all super handsome haha) but I like Izzy because he was the heart of the band. When you think of GN'R, you think of the rhythm first. It's why their songs are so awesome! Of course, Slash's lead parts are amazing too, but the rhythm is what keeps you coming back. Hence, I think Izzy was really important as the rhythm guitarist.

I think he's also the most interesting of all the members. Doesn't he kinda look like he doesn't belong? Everyone else is rocked out but he's dressed more like a traditional musician would. I think he took his career a lot more seriously than Axl and the others. He was the first to leave the band voluntarily because of creative differences, and still hasn't returned. Of the original cast, Axl (singer)), Slash (lead guitarist), and Duff (bassist) remain. Adler (the drummer) is kinda banned because he sued the band back in the 90s, and only makes guest appearances occasionally. So yeah. Justice for Izzy! Everyone always talks about Axl and Slash, but I think Izzy deserves some recognition too.

If you've been here a while, you might think, "Hey, wasn't there a Metallica concert recently in NJ?" And yes, there was. And no, I didn't go. Why? Well, because I only like the first four albums and the Black Album. Everything else to me is eh. What I like about Metallica is their raw thrash sound, like Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. But as soon as they made the Black Album and got famous off of a more mainstream sound, they just stopped making the heavier stuff. It's why a lot of people say they're sellouts. Their newest album is pretty thrashy which I like, but the lyrics are meh (seriously, listen to Lux Aeterna. Sounds good, but the lyrics are nonsensical.) So I'm not paying 700 bucks to hear songs I don't like. On the other hand, Megadeth kept their thrash sound since their inception, which is why they're one of my favorite bands too. Dave Mustaine nationalism!

Also, because Metallica is so famous, the event was sold out. Would you want to be a part of this line trying to leave?

Yeah, I'll pass.

All right, time for the video where I show what I did. It's just UI stuff, so no changelog really. Next time I may or may not do coding stuff, so we'll see. But yeah. I think you'll enjoy the new things I drew!
