Hello everyone! I've got another game update for you today. So let's get right into it!
As usual, life update first. My job at Cracker Barrel has increased to full time, which means I work around 40 hours a week there. Additionally, my responsibilities have also increased. Now, I actually cook some of the food there that people eat. Yeah, it's pretty cool. I like working there, and the pay is pretty decent. I actually got overtime last week, so yeah. Expecting a rather hefty check coming in soon!
With that, I'll get into my housing situation. If you remember from before, I needed 40 hours at my job to qualify for a mortgage with the company I was with. But you know what? As I worked more, I realized that I had way more purchasing power than before as I had both a full time and part time job. So why in the world was I putting up with these dumb restrictions from this mortgage company when I could pay the same amount each month for a better home? Ironically, the requirement that I had to have 40 hours from ONE job (two combined didn't count) made me qualified for a ton more properties that I couldn't buy before. Not to mention, I was also required to enlist in mandatory biweekly bank payments to pay off my mortgage, plus the interest rate was nearly 10 percent (on a 65k home.) So even though the price was cheap, I'd have been paying nearly 800 bucks a month on my mortgage. Which completely defeats the advantage of buying a cheap home in the first place. So yeah, I took my business elsewhere. As a last resort, I asked to move in to the property early (this was the week before my 40 hour schedule) and was told no. So yeah lol, get bent stringy house owner. Not my problem.
Anyways, all that's to say that I've found another home for 125k. It's two stories (which is really rare in HS) and it has a basement, attic, and garage (which are also rare.) A lot of the furniture comes with it, and there's a ton of new things like electrical, roof, hvac, and paint that were replaced within a year. Plus, it already has a washer/dryer and oven. I'm pretty excited about it! It's within biking distance to Central Ave (Hot Springs' downtown area) but it's also a short commute to where I work. It even has a small balcony! So yeah, I put an offer on it and it was accepted, so all I have to do is inspection/appraisal and we'll see how it goes. It's my third home-buying go around so I'm still a little wary, but I think this house is the house I'll finally end up buying. I'm really excited to make the basement a game room if everything goes well. The very first thing I'd put in is a Galaga/Pac Mania arcade machine. Simple as!
Okay, now on to the game stuff.

As the title of this journal suggests, I finished all of the chemistry burst paintings. I'm really trying to get as much art done as possible before the end of the year so that the demo looks polished on Steam. Oh, did I not say? That's right, the game will be put on Steam this year! Of course, it'll be free (the demo.) But now you'll be able to wishlist it, and I'll push updates on the steam page too. So yeah! You'll be able to tell your friends, "Yeah, I'm playing Joe Maverick" and they'll be able to search it on Steam like all the kool kidz. Isn't that awesome?
I wish it took me not as long to finish these, but I've been spending more time at work lately. Some days I only work and sleep. I don't mind because I like my jobs, and I need to pay for the home I'm trying to buy, but I do somewhat miss the time when I was in college and could work on it all day (and at work... in Minecraft, of course.) Well, progress is progress, no matter how small.
Here is the video of me showing things off. Next time, I think I'll start working on the pre-battle/class change portraits. Then, I'll do the shopkeeper/ui stuff. Yeah, there's not too much art left I think, but it's good to get it out of the way. Until next time!
