Hey all! HaxDev here.
It's been a bit since my last update, so I figured I'd write another one. How are things with me? Glad you asked. Life update, starting now!
First of all, my house. The closing date has been pushed back once again, this time to October 21st. Why? Well:
- The seller needs to obtain a bonded title for the home.
- I need to provide a 40 hour work week check for my mortgage.
Other than that, nothing else needs to be done. So in the meantime, where am I staying? Well, I only rented out the first Airbnb until the previous closing date, so I moved into another one. Amazingly, this one I'm in now is cheaper, larger, AND has more amenities. And how? I went through the guy who posted it directly instead of Airbnb. He had his listing on multiple sites, and the one I found it on had his contact info. Long story short, I saved about 800 dollars by not going through AirBnb. Yeah. I didn't know, but apparently Airbnb has some outrageous fees on the seller end, enough to jack up the prices quite a bit. S'yeah. I'm pretty happy with it. I met the owner and he was a really nice elderly gentleman. My neighbors are nice too, and were staying in the place next to mine for the same reason as me. Interestingly enough, they even considered buying the home that I'm getting at one point. Haha! I'm glad they decided to forego it in favor of another place.

Second, I got two cats from a shelter. The black and white one is Tux, and the orange one is Scarecrow. Very cute, very destructive. I underestimated how terrifying cats are. The family cat at my house was an outdoor/indoor cat, so most of the time she burned all of her energy outside. My cats are indoor only, so they literally drive me up the wall. Tux insists on walking on me every night at 3am for some reason, which I don't really mind since I have to wake up at that time for work anyway, but it's still kinda annoying. Scarecrow is calmer, but always wants to sleep on me, which results in him walking on everything within 5 feet of me (like my keyboard.) I somewhat miss the days when it was just me and Mr. Tarantula...
Third, life in Arkansas. How is it? It's... it's... how do I say this? It's, uh, you know...
AWESOME! IT'S AWESOME!!! Oh man, I love it here so much it's unreal. Clear skies, warm weather, kind strangers, nonexistent traffic, amazing road quality, bike lanes up the wazoo, low food prices, and low gas prices. I literally cannot ask for anything else. One thing that I really love here is the roadwork. You know how in NJ they'll just randomly do road construction randomly for no reason on a perfectly fine street (so the road budget doesn't get slashed, naturally) and do it during peak driving times? Like 8am when everyone has to go to work, or 5pm when everyone is coming home. Yeah. Here in AR, they'll do roadwork in the early morning hours/really late afternoon. You know, like it SHOULD be done, at times when there's nobody around. It's small things like this that make this state awesome.
I got another job recently at Cracker Barrel for my mortgage. So I work at FedEx really early (~4am-8am) and Cracker Barrel later in the day. It's pretty cool. I work as a grill cook there, which is a bit of a misnomer since I don't really "cook" anything, I just put already made food on plates. What I really like is that you can cross train into different positions at the restaurant to get more hours. So for me, I need 40 hours, so I'm cross training as a dishwasher. I might do another position too if that isn't enough, but you get the picture. It's pretty comfy, and my coworkers are cool too. Hilariously, there's a guy there that also works at FedEx, like me. He always asks me, "Are you going to be working at the Barrel today?" Haha, I think it's a pretty wild coincidence.
So yeah, that's about all in terms of life stuff. I have two jobs now, two cats, and the new place I'm in has a desk so I've set up my PC. Hence, game updates will be returning. Also, I heard that the weather in NJ has been awful. Not that that's news, but you know. I don't regret my decision to move here in the slightest. Why pay a huge tax premium to live in a state with wall to wall traffic, insane housing prices, expensive gas, and high crime? I'm cringing into my soul thinking about it.
That all being said, I hope to have another update out soon, this time with some game updates. I'm excited to work on the game again!
